Useless option of NOTA in Indian Elections!

The first issue Indians have these days in the elections in India, is the reliability of AVM (Automatic Voting Machines). There had been questions right from general public in homes and on roads right up to within Legislative Assemblies on reliability of AVMs, after news of their tampering in favour of BJP (the political party of current PM Narendra Modi) came up.

Another issue is the issue of NOTA (None Of The Above) candidate option, where people can even vote for none of the candidates who are contesting election. In a first glance this option looks valid and even allows people to use their voting right in case they don’t want to vote for any contesting candidate.

But the problem arises in case NOTA option wins the election, in that case this should result in re-election in that constituency, with either parties changing their candidates or when some new candidates also contest in the re-election.

All these issues get neglected in Indian elections and in case NOTA option wins, the candidate who secured the second seat is declared winner, when actually second candidate has lost the election. Unless we resolve this useless, absurd and illogical concept from our election, NOTA is of no use!
